Arezzo- Rondine

Wonderful decision to vist Rondine

Sam in Italy 2k16

First off, if you want to know more about Rondine, I suggest you check out their website at rondine.org. I will attempt to tell you about their mission, and how it challenged my world view.

Rondine is an activist organization that seeks to inspire change through peace. They take students from conflict zones (Israel/Palestine, Armenia/Azerbaijan, etc.) and bring them together to study and learn about the other side. Through personal interaction and debate, they seek to humanize the conflict, instead of demonizing the other side as propaganda tends to do.

Conflict resolution is embedded within the curriculum at Rondine, but conflict between the sides is inevitable. One of the students there told us, “we cannot avoid what happens.” Tempers inevitably flare, but they seek to meditate the peace process and bring about change. Rondine staff seek to change the perspective of conflicting sides, one voice of reason at a time.

It was very cool to see two people whose countries hated each other managing to be friends and see past the cultural lenses their respective societies have placed over them. Rondine is a good activist for what I believe is a very good cause. After Rondine…
