Today we visited Rondine, an organization that brings students from conflict areas together in order to give them an education and teach them skills in conflict resolution. They are expected to then take these skills to their home countries and create projects that promote peace through education. This use of education to promote political or social change via activism is called informational politics. I think that Rondine has a wonderful mission. I believe it is true that most violence and conflict is bred of ignorance. This can ignorance about the “enemy” culture or ignorance to all the points of view in regard to the conflict situation. This ignorance is often not the fault of the individual, but the fault of the government or society.
